I have written in the Responsive Universe how dreams and the afterlife could be connected. It is a theory I think about a lot. I thought we could explore this idea more –

Like the concept or dogmatic idea of Heaven and Hell, the dream world is a place where anything is possible… Anything…. The dreamscape is a place where we can visit dead friends and relatives, where a quadriplegic can walk and where our deepest desires, fears and energy are revealed and even distorted and magnified. I have even mentioned to those who have bad dreams on a regular basis; that this could be an unconscious barometer as to how positive your life and karma really are. If you have good dreams most of the time then you are exhibiting positive energy, actions and reactions in everyday life – of course the opposite could mean necessary changes in life are required to shift the pendulum of energy to a more positive existence. I truly believe there is a connection between how we project ourselves in life and how the dream world mirrors such energy. Could the afterlife be a similar mirror or dimension? Good dreams equal Heaven and bad dreams equal Hell?

DMT (Dimethyltryptamine) is a brain chemical,  a structural analog of serotonin and melatonin, that is released in minute quantities during various levels of dreaming. It is also released at the time of death as sort of a pleasure chemical. Is there a connection? Near Death Experiences reveal similar stories that transcend religion and creed illustrating a warm healing light and a place outside of our own being. Is this a snapshot of the afterlife or just pleasure chemicals?

Biocentrism

And what about brain death? We understand that brain activity can continue minutes (or longer) after clinical death. Could this be the DMT? We also understand how time within in a dream is not relative with conscious time. Could a second of dream illusion be an eternity of experience? Is this the afterlife? I think we need to dig deeper…

We understand that energy cannot be destroyed even after death. Recent evidence in the mechanics and the singularity of Black Holes illustrates the point that even though matter is stripped down to its basic electrons, neutrons and protons (like at the event horizon of a black hole), the information and energy contained in those electrons, neutrons and protons is not destroyed and possibly transferred through quantum energy exchange. Death would be similar as our bodies return to their source: Energy and the information that defines energy…. Possibly the information that defines us as instinctual and conscious energy sources continues on in some form or facet… The question is… In what form? Perhaps reincarnation? Perhaps we exist in another dimension as String Theory could suggest. Or perhaps death is a “White Hole” (the opposite end of a black hole) and we become our very own Big Bang – reanimating into a new form of energy? Will we retain our memories? My instinct says no which can be disheartening to many… My gut also tells me it will not matter…

Think of our being as an energy footprint (a soul);  an orb of quantum energy inside a physical body, and our physical brain is actually a way for our body to interface with the Responsive Universe and perceive conscious existence…  When we die we lose this conscious connection and return to our indigenous unconscious state we were before we were born. We are returned to energy: Energy, the common denominator of the Responsive Universe…

We all understand that death is a threshold we all will pass through. Death is inescapable… Religion has created its own fear and love for death but in reality death is as relative as birth. Death is part of our existence; a rite of passage. It need not be feared and in fact could very well be the most beautiful and empowering experience of life. In fact everything is relative isn’t it? From Spring comes Summer, Autumn and then Winter. Clocks rotate, storms rotate, our planet rotates, galaxies with hundreds of billions of stars rotate – wouldn’t life rotate too? A beginning, an ending and a new beginning. Birth, Life, Death and Rebirth…. Energy cannot be destroyed – it only changes form. And who knows, the dream world could be a window into something sublime. The more positive your dreams, the more positive is your energy footprint that can carry over as information in those electrons, neutrons and protons.

Buckle up, your greatest adventure lies somewhere in the inescapable future…

I am cool with that….

Cosmic Origin and Cessation

In my previous post I asked why… why is there fear of the unknown… fear of death and dying. Fear born from ego and false-self; reinforced by religious dogma? Why….

The Universe is composed of space, matter and quantum energy. Within the vacuum of space this matter and energy changes form creating a “cause and an effect” system of events. This cause and effect leads to adaptation within any environment – from a galaxy or star to a planet sustainable for life.

From background radiation and through Red Shift and the Doppler Effect we understand that the Universe is expanding. Many would consider the Big Bang to be the source of this expansion. Still, how can something birth from nothing? That question is one of mankind’s most sought after quandaries. In a Universe of cause and effect, the Big Bang explains only an effect and no cause. How can this be? What defines nothing? It turns out nothing is something within a Responsive Universe.

Einstein’s theory of relativity predicts gravity very accurately. This theory also predicts black holes rather elegantly.  The problem is the theory of relativity falls apart when you try to quantify the mass and space of a black holes singularity. Quantum physics also fails miserably short as well.  A black hole is everything we cannot answer and yet it might explain everything.  Astrophysicists’ at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics has already proven the existence of black holes – a long-held theory for decades. The question is how are black holes related to our existence?

New theories in the origin of our Cosmos are not discounting the Big Bang theory; only amending it. First, it is impossible for nothing to exist – philosophically speaking, there always needs to be something in order for something else to exist. For there to be an effect, there must be a cause. But how can we relate to such musings? We can begin by looking into our physical environment here on Earth.  Everything it seems relates to rotating patterns or Mandalas. Look at the revolving transition of day to night; the seasons throughout each year; and even life and death – all cause and effects; all rotating energy exchanges that adapt over time. Planets rotate, stars rotate; galaxies rotate; even black holes rotate – a beginning, an ending and then a new beginning. But the Big Bang goes against this logic – a theory that explains everything spawned from nothing.

In a relative Universe of matter changing form; energy is action and reaction; cause and effect. When a star dies, its tired gases reform new stars. If a dying star is large enough, at stellar death a black hole is created. There are thousands of stellar black holes in every Galaxy. There are hundreds of millions galaxies in the Universe and at the center of every galaxy is a “Super Massive Black Hole” – its origins unknown. A black hole is a region of space/time where gravity prevents anything, including light, from escaping. The theory of general relativity predicts that a sufficiently compact mass will deform space/time to form a black hole. Though current math cannot support the singularity of a black hole we see this system as an integral part of the Cosmos – again every galaxy seems to have a super massive black hole at its center.  Why?

Where does all this light and matter go when gobbled up by a black hole? What is the purpose? There must be a function? What if the other end of a black hole was the Big Bang of a new Universe? What if the singularity of a black hole was the link to origin and cessation?  We understand that everything is relative – everything has a beginning, ending and then a new beginning. Energy cannot be destroyed – it simply changes form. In an ever ending revolution of life, death and rebirth black holes could be the key to this Universe and millions of other Universes as well. String Theory already presents supporting math for a multiverse to exist. There are questions abound in regard to the origin of the Big Bang inflation as well as the statistical data that supports the theory that the Universe is expanding even quicker – a possible contradiction to current mass and gravity data. Further mathematical measurements of dark energy are not matching current theoretical equations. The concept of multiple Universes would support the disparities seen within our quantum dominion. Further, such cosmic diversity could result in duplicates of Universes based simply on statistics and probability.

What if time and matter as we know it was not born during the Big Bang 13 billion years ago? What if the Big Bang was only a “Big Bounce” as some mainstream astronomers like to term it; a rebirth of energy – energy changing form in an endless procession of life, death and rebirth? It would sure explain all the black holes gobbling up light and matter. It seems everything in life has a purpose; even if we can’t explain it. Based on quantum physics we now understand through stellar adaptions that conscious thought evolved from the same stuff that stars are made of. We are connected to everything within the Universe and there is a sublime instinctual connection that transcends this dogmatic earth we live on. We are a part of something much bigger than we know – we are a part of a Responsive Universe.

In my next blog post I explain the humanistic side to the Universe – the energy that connects us to everything including our origin and cessation.

Talk about a Responsive Universe – Word Press has been a great outlet for blogging the last 8 months. I have been a long time member of blogspot.com but I do not get half the traffic, comments or exposure over there across town. Speaking of activity, there is one unique blog entry that I posted on November 30th, 2011 that seems to continue to enjoy amazing interest and traffic. It was titled “Can astrophysics prove that an afterlife exists?” Even 4 months later, this one post seems to draw more traffic than all other past posts combined in my statistics. It is clear I hit an emotional chord on this subject.

Well, don’t worry; I dedicated two full chapters to such discussions in my latest book, The Responsive Universe – due to see book shelves later this summer.  Still, what an amazing show of interest and support for a rather controversial topic: The Afterlife.  For centuries humans have left such dogma and trappings to the religious elite.  Yet, many of us see fundamental problems with religion and how it has managed and even mislead the masses the last few thousand years.  Let’s just say, it has not been a perfect ride across crusades, religious persecution and learned faith. It was only in the 1980s that Pope John Paul finally conceded a 350 year wrong in admonishing Galileo from his theories about Heliocentricity. With such archaic response, I think there are more people out there than just me who are not feeling warm and snuggly with church doctrine as it relates to heaven and the afterlife. I personally need something more concrete and that is why while researching my book, I turned to science – most notably, astrophysics.

There are now several strong theories within science that lead us to the possibility of an afterlife not based on God or blind faith, but unadulterated, unfettered science. Research in Near Death Experience, Black Holes and String Theory are just some of the contributing evidence that is out there that supports an afterlife. The same equations and musings Einstein pondered could later be the key to an afterlife. Remember, basic physics says this: Energy cannot be created or destroyed – it simply changes form. That in itself denotes existence in some form after mortal death. As science and evolution continues to progress, mankind will continue to see the intrinsic connections and vibrations that  make us whole – that unite us with the mysterious and unimaginable workings of a Responsive Universe.

I do not claim to have all the answers to life’s most enduring questions. I do have the freedom to question authority and by asking the questions, maybe the answers will come. I have made space for such quandaries like the ageless question of whether or not there is life after death. Making space for such inquiries allows for clarity to arise from within. There is an innate wisdom that can be found when we settle into the vastness of the mind. Small nudges from our inner-self lead us to life’s most intimate answers.

Still in its infancy, astrophysics is proving that an afterlife can and does exist without the trappings of religion. Thats right, an afterlife proven by science. Lets forget for a moment the most substantial piece of evidence and one of the most important laws in science: Energy cannot be created or destroyed. Thus, in some facet humans, possibly even their consciousness, lives on within the tapestry that is quantum energy, coalescing and regenerating throughout the Cosmos. But is there more?

Have you ever heard of String Theory?

String theory is an active research framework in particle physics that attempts to reconcile quantum mechanics and general relativity (the theory of everything). String theory teaches that the electrons and quarks within an atom are not 0-dimensional objects, but rather 1-dimensional oscillating lines or strings, hence the name. These invisible vibrating strings may be infinitely diverse with variables of inestimable value. This would suggest that other cosmic manipulations could exist beyond the edge of our known Universe. Many theoretical physicists including Stephen Hawking believe String Theory is a step towards the correct fundamental description of nature and the Universe. An intriguing feature of String Theory is that it predicts extra dimensions, possibly even alternate Universes. One such theory is the 11-dimensional M-theory, which requires the Universe to have eleven dimensions as opposed to the usual three spatial dimensions and the fourth dimension of time. Other research in String Theory has purported as many as 26 space time dimensions for the Bosonic String explanation. These theories present us with a new picture of the Cosmos. Scientists including Andre Linde and Allan Guth have been studying the concept of “Multiverses” for decades. String theory is still in its infancy and there are many exciting discoveries still to arise from the world of physics. If modern physics is capable of proving validity to alternate universes could these spatial dimensions be alternate realities or realms of the afterlife? As we continue to uncover the intricacies of the Cosmos, it has become clear that anything is possible because String Theory itself presents a universe of infinite possibilities.

What about Black Holes?

What is based on more substantial scientific evidence are recent discoveries in black holes and their theorized physics. A black hole is a region of space from which nothing, not even light, can escape. For decades it was thought that nothing could survive the plunge into a black hole. It is now a widely held theory that light and energy that is trapped in a black hole can survive. This is important because nothing is more violent and ever changing than the environment that exists at the event horizon of a black hole. Observable matter appears to be stripped down to elementary protons, electrons and neutrons. Much like in death, we return to our source of elementary particles. Still, current physics states in principle, complete information about a physical system at one point in time should determine its state at any other time. This means Quantum mechanics proves that information that is created cannot be destroyed, even during the strenuous gravity and light vacuum characteristics present in a black hole. As stated earlier, energy and thoughts can be considered united and appear to be stable and transferable even when matter changes form. This means our thoughts can in theory live on after death.

Studies in sub atomic particle physics also sheds light on how science can prove an afterlife exists. Scientists from famed universities like Cambridge, Princeton and even the Max Planck Institute have made amazing strides in connecting particle physics to life after death. Recent theories have claimed that humans might exist in a form called “body-soul duality”. This premise exists due to inherent wave/particle duality in subatomic particles that can be viewed in a laboratory setting. A competing theory suggests that particles, like photons and electrons possess the traits of both waves and particles which suggests that information created by conscious thought saves information within our brains and also within a quantum field of energy beyond our bodies. The theory states that though the brain might be dead, the info lives on which supports our discussions above about information surviving a black holes strenuous gravity.

Studies in Near Death Experiences (NDE) and reincarnation help add a humanistic quality to what happens after death. Do we retain our human form or do we return to instinctual energy upon demise? There is this element of fear associated with death that permeates the epoch of mankind. Further, there is this undeniable thirst to know what happens after cessation which has been a major supporting factor in contemporary religion. Still, the concept of God as it relates to the Universe is mind boggling. For many, it is enough to know that modern science proves we live on in some form or facet. The dogma and humanistic trappings of reincarnation, heaven and NDE are promising and heartwarming, but true solace here on Earth can be found by connecting to our True Nature that exists within all sentient beings. As stated, True nature that is that quantum governed energy force that is constant and unwavering. Much like the concept of a soul, our True Nature is an instinctual energy field comprised of waves of subatomic light and matter. So it seems, the best approach to understanding life after death is taking heed to the wisdom of few and then following your True Nature. The answers lie within and once you come to understand that we are simply energy changing form, gone will be any fear of death. You will come to understand we are a part of something magnificent and in some form we will always remain connected and pure like the energy that surrounds us. It is ego and false perception that has bred religion, fear and notions of hell and purgatory. Once you strip away the ego and all that is adulterated and polluted, all that is left is energy – pure and powerful. We come from energy and we will go back to energy.
