Balance

Our bodies want to find a balance – a connection to our True Nature. It is our ego and false-self that obscures this realm of wellness and betterment. By nourishing our bodies with food and exercise, meditation and positive energy we move closer to that realm of balance.

vertigo

Recall the wisdom from previous writings that expands on the concept of True Nature. True Nature is a spacious vision to which we can all connect. This vision or energy within is indestructible and never fleeting. It is like the blue skies that are always present even if temporarily obscured by clouds. In order to connect to this True Nature our thoughts need to be completed centered in the present; sans of fear and fantasy, past and future. It is not about the past… that is gone… It is not about the future… that has yet to arrive… it is about what is going on right now… and now… and now… You see eighty percent of all your thoughts today were most likely replays of the past and day dreaming about the future; focusing on fear and fantasy… these thoughts may bring some form of instant gratification but they can also bring anxiety, dread and a cluttered mind… Almost everything that is not in the present moment is ego driven – your false-self. When you center yourself in the present or on a specific task like reading this blog the moment at hand is more authentic. The present moment is a magical gap between the past and future; a reprieve from mediocrity, apprehension and self-gratifying desire. Within those authentic gaps is this amazing connection to energy, relaxation, reverence and bliss. That is the balance… It is here in the present that thoughts slow, inspiration and awareness is fine-tuned and there is this heartfelt feeling that we are evolving in the right direction. – It is where you will connect to your True Nature and it is here in the present that your heart wish or inner voice will speak. Your inner voice is your ego-less instinct; your “true-self” that speaks wisdom and reveals an illuminated path to enlightenment. We all have this inner voice but the problem is that our egos voice tends to be louder. All those endless thoughts that are awash in your mind drown out the inner voice within. It is your inner voice that will guide you into the future soundly and confidently. This does not come easy but the more mindful you are the more you will slowly shift into this grand and welcoming Responsive Universe. Over time your mind will train itself to live in a Responsive Universe and then things like meditation and mindfulness will become second nature – much like breathing in and out. By centering your thoughts in the present you are creating space within the mind where wisdom and energy can arise.

How vast is your mind? Maybe it is infinite in its energy and capacity?

We have discussed the quality of space as it relates to our minds on many occasions.  Imagine the space it takes to hold the countless thoughts that race through our heads each day. Imagine the space it takes to hold memories, dreams, skills, and lessons. The tangible brain may seem small but the mind seems vast, maybe boundless?

Where do thoughts come from? Where do they arise within the mind? Can you pin point their source? Where do thoughts go? Does the mind have a border or perimeter? Close your eyes for a moment. The darkness seems like a small place doesn’t it? Now open your eyes and just like that your world has grown. But what about dreams? Your eyes are closed but here is this surreal and bizarre world that wakes up while you sleep. It seems anything is possible in the dream world. Yet these dreams exist in the same mind that manages your wakeful senses and thoughts. The concept of space reminds me of an interesting paradox. Look up into the clear night sky. Those stars you see are hundreds if not thousands of light years away. Even the closest star would take our most modern space craft 55,000 years of travel to just reach its orbit. There is a lot of space out there and based on Quantum Physics we are fundamentally connected to it all. This is a hard concept to grasp: The Universe, our minds and True Nature – a trinity of sorts that defines us and this world we live in; a Mandala – connected, revolving, endless, dependable and balanced.  The space that surrounds us and the quality of vastness within the mind is important to actualize. These qualities are connected to ways humanity is just now beginning to realize.

The goal is to recognize this space and eventually come to live within its boundless walls and unfathomable ceilings – to be free, mindful and connected to the energy and light that is this Responsive Universe. That is the balance we must find within and with out…

When looking  back on the past does not interest you anymore…. Well, you know you are heading forward in the right direction….  It is amazing how much energy we can expend on thinking about the past: Our failures and mistakes; our stresses and worries about things we probably can’t change. The past is the past….

The only control we have is the present moment… right here, right now… It is the actions we take right here; right now that can change the future; thus rewriting any past negativity. Remember that as we head into a New Year. Your past does not need to define you. Further, you have complete control over the present moment which can dictate the future…

Peace, Love and Illumination!

…a poem

Boundless, clarity and responsiveness for the present moment: Stillness encourages harmony…

My reverence and mindfulness creates positive thinking and a admiration for simplicity.

Veneration for my surroundings, awareness of my body and energy; clarity and sensitivity bears an infinite vision that transcends all dogma…

A journey of self introspection. Void of persecution and stigma; karma, the watchful eye of my progression…

Peace and tranquility: Unfettered and unswerving are my feelings: A dynamism in the moment that outshines past and future, fear and fantasy – for a moment I find myself ever present – Stillness speaks wisdom…

Bringing forth compassion born from intrinsic nature…

Unlimited is my ability, love and bliss my energy as wisdom and an errant but welcome epiphany unravels life’s meaning…

I wrote the Responsive Universe as a hand book to self-discovery. Within its pages are 9 chapters or Mandalas – each a stepping stone forward in meditation and mindfulness.  Reading and implementing  the helpful daily life practices and guided meditations is a measured process – a journey not to be rushed.

Still, what can we do now in the present moment to immediately bring more happiness and wellness into our busy lives? below is a short list of 5 simple things you can do daily to perpetuate better health and happiness:

Compliment Someone: It is that easy. Whether it is a co-worker, significant other or complete stranger; go out of your way to say something nice to someone else. It is a simple gesture that creates a ripple of quantum positive energy that will eventually return to its source. You!

Drink Water: Seems obvious right? But for those of you who drink soda pop (soft drinks) or other sugary beverages, I am talking to you! Substitute water  and be sure you are getting  enough. Not to get graphic but you should be drinking enough water each day to pee clear at least once. Water is the simplest way to cleanse and hydrate your body.

Revel in the intricacies of Nature

Get out in Nature: I write all the time about how Nature speaks. If you do not know what I mean then you need to be more mindful of the benefits of immersing yourself in our beautiful natural world.  Even if it is for a moment on your break time at work – get outside and feel the sunshine and breathe in some fresh air! Even better, go for a walk in the woods!

Breathe: Even simpler! Well, not literally… Practice mindful breathing if only for a couple of breaths. Breathe in deeply and visualize positive quantum energy entering your body; cleansing your aura or energy footprint. Exhale and feel all the stress, negativity, guilt, fear and suffering leave you – all trappings of the ego. Breathe in positive energy – exhale negative energy; if only for a minute. Easy right?

Root your being in the present moment and not the past or future

Be in the Present Moment:  The past is gone so there is nothing you can do about that. The future has yet to come so there is no sense worrying about something that has yet to arise. When you live in the present moment you are mindful and aware; in full control of your thoughts, ideas, actions and reactions. In the present moment you have two decisions. You can root your energy and intent in positivity or negativity. It’s your call….

5 easy things that will take up less than 5 minutes of your life – it’s that simple!

The Universe does not judge…

The Universe does not reprimand…

The Universe does not promote happiness…

The Universe does not control your destiny…..

…you do

We live in a Responsive Universe. A conscious cosmos where every thought, action and reaction creates a wave of energy and vibration at the sub atomic level. Basic quantum physics already sheds a bright light on how our responses to life are interconnected and intertwined in a quantum field of light, energy and vibration.

Think of the  Universe as a clean slate… An empty canvas…  The conduit for your energy – whether positive or negative.  The Universe responds to your thoughts, actions and reactions. You are the painter adding color to that proverbial painters canvas.  You are the energy and the Universe is your pathway; your medium… Even  when we comprehend the concept of God as it relates to the Universe we have to include ourselves in that equation. It is our positive and negative thoughts, actions and reactions that become the hand of God. We have the power to create a living heaven or a living hell within this Universe and microcosmic world (Earth) that takes heed to our energy footprints; our waves and vibrations of existence.

When you think happy, positive thoughts these pulses of energy translate into positive actions which more often than not are greeted with positive reactions. Society can be thought of as one breathing organism. When you feed this organism with positivity, it responds with positivity.  This is what defines karma. It begins on the individual level. You have the power of happiness within the palm of your hand. You alone can allow the ego to govern your thoughts and actions or you can let your True Nature be the governing force. True Nature is a place within and without your body that is free of ego and false-self. When you strip away all that is negative: Fear, anger, jealousy and greed you are left with only love and positive energy. When you root your intent; your thoughts, actions and reactions in True Nature you connect to sometime genuine and unadulterated.

You are creating a Responsive Universe…. You are in control. The present moment is the essence of God and Universe – the totality of everything at your finger tips. Believe this and you too will live in a Conscious Cosmos… a Responsive Universe….

Not all of us had wonderful childhoods… We all have made mistakes that we probably regret…. None of us are perfect….  Some of us are damaged little flowers; at the hands of abuse, addiction or loss… Life can be a bumpy road…

Don’t let your past dictate the future…. Only the present moment should define you…

It should be a goal to try and understand the past so that we can correct any control patterns born from past adversity. Control patterns are hard-wired behaviors adopted mostly by the ego that many times unknowingly govern our thoughts, actions and reactions. An abusive or negative past can condition us in thinking we are broken or not worthy. It creates low self-esteem.

We need to understand the past but not allow it to dictate the future. The past is gone… There is nothing you can do about it! We can only change the future. That change begins right now in the present moment. You see, the present moment is the only place in time we have control. Even the future can look foreboding so why fret about something that has yet to materialize? Why continually beat ourselves up for a past we can’t change?

We can only do something positive right now in the present moment. Every little positive change in the present moment will eventually shift that pendulum of negative energy to a better place. Like the sun gazing across the sky in the afternoon; you can choose to sit in the sun or the shade. It is your choice.

When you have control over the present moment; you have control over your destiny….

“However many storms are within you, there is always room for more…

The ocean did not gain its vastness by turning the rain away…”

– Pavana

This wisdom is believed to have originated from ancient Hindu texts. This particular quote brings great meaning and thus I would like to expand on its perceived premise. I think it is interesting to explore the ancient texts and quotes of famous; even enigmatic philosophers  of the past. If you release yourself from any dogmatic trappings and look at the common denominator of each religion or thought you will find many similarities; especially across Hinduism, Buddhism and early Christianity. There are lovely and empowering literary passages to explore from the ancients that spoke and wrote such wisdom so many years ago.

This particular Pavana quote speaks to me. As we have learned through experience, it is the challenges and suffering that teach the most poignant lessons in life. It is from great pain and affliction  that our True Nature arises from the ashes to allow us to vibrate to the next level of mindfulness and self-discovery. From every loss and lesson comes understanding and wisdom. To know pain and suffering is to know love and bliss. Within our minds and being is this vast, open space – this boundless realm within the mind that is infinite and endless like the Universe. With the right awareness, there is much space to be found for all our challenges and suffering. Each experience whether positive or negative shapes our being; our energy footprint. Each experience may shape us, but it does not have to define us. Our minds are much like the ocean: Sometimes turbulent and frothing with controlled chaos; sometimes peaceful and glassy.

The first notion is to continually remind ourselves of the space that exists within; especially in times of turmoil and challenge. Remind yourself that your mind is vast like the ocean and eventually things will calm down. The second notion is to remind yourself that from every negative will birth a positive. From night comes day and from rain comes sunshine. Good things are on the horizon and no matter the toil, you will become a stronger, more mindful and sensitive person.

It is easy to put your blind faith into something like religion. Put your unadulterated faith into yourself; into the vastness that is your being.  Self awareness and self-discovery is a much better spiritual investment.

mandala

“Each person’s life is like a mandala – a vast, limitless circle. We stand in the center of our own circle, and everything we see, hear and think forms the mandala of our life…
~ Pema Chodron

This is a great quote from Pema Chodron; one of our great modern teachers of this era. I have written and defined a Mandala as a sphere of energy.  In its simplest form, Mandala means circle. It is an ancient Buddhist symbol of inner and outer space where everything is linked as one from which the Universe and all its energy arise.  We stand in the center of our circle and as we communicate with friends, family, community and society our proverbial sphere of influence tends to overlap much like the Olympic Rings overlap.

Basic subatomic physics now explains in painstaking detail that our thoughts and actions react and change the fabric of the Universe. When we look at matter at its smallest form in the laboratory you now have to include the observer (scientist) as part of the experiment or observation because just the act of observing matter at the subatomic level changes the outcome. This can be applied to the mechanics of God but on a more social level it explains with science how every action and reaction we create does in fact cause a ripple… a dynamism of energy (positive or negative) that effects others and our own destiny. This explains karma, the power of prayer and positive manifestation.

When we stand in the middle of our mandala; our personal circle of energy we will overlap into other peoples energy, thoughts, actions and reactions. Every small thought and action does matter. Like compound interest, positive and negative actions and reactions will add up over time to drive a mood, conversation or something more permanent within our lives and the lives of those we influence.

It’s another reason for acute mindfulness; especially in social situations. We wield more power than we realize. Remember that the next time you get mad or cause negativity in any facet. Not only does negativity effect those around you, it is you (the source) that tends to suffer the most…

So you had a spiritual breakthrough? …an epiphany? Maybe you read an enlightening book and it has changed your perspective (hopefully it was mine – LOL). Maybe you read a bunch of books… You feel your space, clarity and insight growing… your vibration and glow expanding? Excellent! Self-discovery and spiritual evolution is the goal in a Responsive Universe…

Do you feel compelled to tell everyone you meditated today? Is your new found wisdom splashed all over Facebook and Twitter 24/7? Do you stop random people and tell them you can see their aura or energy? Are you voicing your new opinions to those around you as if you have been a master teacher your entire life? Do you feel more powerful and self-actualized than others with your new found energy? Do you feel sorry for those easily led by blind faith?

Easy there eager beaver!

…your new found self-discovery is creating a new ego from the one you just got rid of!!!!

what?

As we step into self-discovery and sun bathe in the first light shards of enlightenment it is easy to become intoxicated with this new found energy. Congratulations, you are on the path to Self-Actualization!

IT’S A TRAP!

what?

yep, that’s right…. In order to find this new self-discovery and enlightenment, you had to surrender at least a portion of your false-self or ego to connect more with your True Nature. The trap is that it is easy to fall into a more complex ego born from your new found vision. It is easy to step up on your soap box and preach this new age gospel. Beware, it is unbecoming… People do not want to hear it… Silence is the best wisdom… In fact, living by example is the best teacher… If you feel the need to tell people you meditated today or that you are vibrating at a higher level – or their religion is wrong;  that is your ego talking… not your True Nature…

Say less… Do more….

Don’t judge….

Be compassionate….

Sometimes silence is the best wisdom….

Hey, I have to self-check myself all the time – especially with family. It’s part of the journey and when you are mindful of your energy and place with this Universe and do not let it synthesize more ego – well, you just jumped to a new level in self-discovery and enlightenment….

And yes, this blog post is my friendly reminder….

more on Ego     ….more on True Nature   …more on what the Responsive Universe is…

universeIf you are new to this blog – then welcome! If you have been following the Responsive Universe for some time then you understand the premise of this “conscious Cosmos” we all live in: Every action and reaction is connected at the subatomic level. That includes your actions and mine as well.  In a Responsive Universe every thought, feeling and memory is linked to this tapestry that is our existence. Our energy is always changing and it can’t be destroyed; the power of God sits at our finger tips; the breath of mindfulness and clarity our compass; nature and silence our temple…

The premise of the Responsive Universe isn’t cult ideology or fringe science. This isn’t dogma or blind faith. Everything tangible and intangible is connected through waves and particles of energy. We are energy, our thoughts are energy and so are the words in this blog.  Quantum Physics and other related sciences shed light on these truths. One can interpret them as gifts and use such offerings to their benefit.  Others settle for archaic religious doctrine that tends to smother our spirit instead of rekindling it. Modern religion is but a snap shot of the bigger picture – Science, the power of God, you and I – we are all part of this immense puzzle that is the Responsive Universe. In short, we are the creator of our own destiny.  This tends to be an unnerving thought for many – especially those of religious faith. Wait, what? No omnipresent ruler in the form of man? Once you take the ego, dogma,  fear and mental conditioning out of the story of human spirituality you are left with two things mostly – you and this vast and beautiful Responsive Universe – a realm where our conscious energy interweaves into the fabric of the Cosmos – where anything is possible with the right mindfulness and energy…

I think we have all heard the old saying – practice what you preach… Well, I am certainly not a preacher and though I practice meditation and mindfulness, I am not perfect and never will be. I am fallible and malleable.  I make mistakes and I will continue to do so. It is not a perfect process but from our screw ups and the bad days that sometimes follow comes an education and wisdom. I have been applying this wisdom to my life for over 15 years. To be free from the constraints of ego and mediocrity we have to find a level of mindfulness and clarity that allows us to see past our own influences: Our parents, teachers, politics, the approval of others, materialistic addiction and even religion – discarding what only feeds our ego and this self-inflicted suffering we continue to subjugate ourselves to.  We need to strive for the things that make us whole with the goal of elevating this mindfulness; this vibration to a higher level. That is the goal of Self-Actualization.

Imagine if every thought mattered… Imagine all the thoughts that float and sometimes careen through your head. Have you ever stopped what you are doing to simply observe the mind and its facilities? The thoughts are endless aren’t they? Even when we sleep our brain is active, replaying old tapes and twisting our fears and desires into picture shows on our eyelids. What if you could control these thoughts? We are our own master right? What about negative thoughts? In a Responsive Universe what you think you project. Imagine the mind as a blank movie screen – you alone are the director; this is your movie; your story of life. What we project on this movie screen will also project out into the world. Quantum Physics explains with painstaking detail that our thoughts and energy react with the smallest features of the subatomic world – we are creating the fabric of the Universe – we are creating our own destiny. We are the hand of God… You are part of the equation; the definition of God and Universe. We are the creators of energy through thoughts and actions. Therefore it makes perfect sense to project positive thoughts and images on that movie screen. Positive thoughts and energy create positive actions. Positive actions will eventually return as positive reactions in a revolving Universe of cause and effect. You alone have the ability to create wealth, love and bliss in your life. You are the director of your life’s story and science now proves the connection to your thoughts and energy and how they affect your surroundings. Think about that… every time a negative thought enters your mind – imagine turning that thought around; taking the ego out of the equation and making something negative into something positive. The first step is simply being mindful of our thoughts and how they could be affecting our wellness. The next step is to begin making lasting changes to your thought process. The more positive energy you create the more positive your life will become. Such positive actions will come full circle with good karma; with your dreams being fully achieved. If you are going to have faith in something – have faith in the notion that you are your own creator – you are God in its many forms… That is not ego, that is True Nature

You are the director of your movie – your story of life. Why not write a feel good movie with a great ending? You never know, there could be a sequel
